EGRETS OVER THE SANDS
Patinated bronze on a flowing-water base, sculpture
H2500
The egret is the most familiar migratory bird along the Qiantang riverbank, and the most weightless witness to this landscape. When the tide withdraws, egrets skim the river surface in flocks, wingtips barely clearing the light on the water—that instant of lift-off is Qiantang at its most everyday and most poetic. The work takes the moment of two egrets rising toward each other as its prototype, cast in patinated bronze and fixed above the flowing water.
